About Caveman Forecaster

CavemanForecaster enjoys the art and science of time series analysis and forecasting. Economic forecasts, weather forecasts, demographic forecasts, and whatever else I find interesting will all be covered eventually. Like most modern cavemen (and cavewomen), I can't help but try to forecast, predict, prognosticate, and guess about the future. In my day job and my spare time, I spend much of my time using graphing and quantitative (statistical) techniques analyzing and forecasting various data series. Some of the main topics I hope to cover on this blog:
  • Primarily I plan to develop and share my time series analyses, graphical analyses, and forecasts for various data series that are of interest to the public like economic data, demographic data, finance and market data, popular interest data, etc.
  • Help others to learn and understand data graphing, statistical analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Investments and stocks, strategy, etc.
  • Cognitive bias (which I often call caveman bias) and how it interferes with our natural ability to analyze and forecast.
  • Reviewing and critiquing others' forecasts, statements, conclusions, opinions, etc.

Feel free to comment, or send an email asking any questions or giving suggestions or even requesting that I look at something that interests you.

Caveman, since i see you love data and do energy commodities, try time of day electricity demand and prices and match that up with national weather station data (hourly or better).
